Daniel is a creative producer, inclusive theatre practitioner, and doctoral researcher.
Daniel’s journey in inclusive theatre began during his undergraduate studies in Drama in the Community at Bishop Grosseteste University. While there, he took on a role as a drama teacher at a specialist education setting in Lincoln, where he first began working with audiences labelled with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities. This sparked a lifelong commitment to creating meaningful, multi-sensory experiences for those often excluded from traditional theatre. Since then, he has collaborated with respite centres, hospices, sensory story companies, and specialist groups across the UK. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Theatre Making from the University of Hull, specialising in inclusive theatre for people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities. Now undertaking a PhD at Rose Bruford College and the University of East London, his research explores bespoke sensory theatre experiences.
Daniel’s contributions to the field have been widely recognised. In 2021, he was awarded a Fellowship from the Royal Society of Arts, following a nomination from a carer whose child regularly engages with Concrete Youth’s work. In 2024, he was named one of the Top 30 Under 30 for his leadership in inclusive arts and his work with Concrete Youth. Beyond his role as Chief Executive & Artistic Director of Concrete Youth, Daniel is a published academic, contributing to leading journals and books, and is a sought-after guest lecturer and speaker at universities and conferences.
As a producer for Concrete Youth, Daniel has led the creation and delivery of critically acclaimed sensory theatre productions, including To the Moon and Back (2019 & 2023 UK Tour), Shebaa’s Adventure to Jopplety How, Winter Wonderland, The Whispering Jungle (2021 & 2023 UK Tours), and Sensory Cinders (West End).
